Ian Verstegen

Associate Director, Visual Studies

Ian Verstegen is Associate Director of Visual Studies within the School of Arts and Sciences. He studies the image – its origin, rise and special characteristics. His work divides between early modern art history and modern and contemporary art theory and historiography. He is the author of books on psychological aesthetics and the philosophy of art history. In 2015 he published Federico Barocci and the Oratorians

At the Price Lab, Dr. Verstegen is seeking a digital means to make early modern drawings intuitively accessible to the general public by displaying related works at the same scale, allowing for insights and inferences about their function and meaning.
