Ramya Sreenivasan

Associate Professor and Department Chair, South Asia Studies

Ramya Sreenivasan is an associate professor of history at the University of Pennsylvania, and teaches courses in the departmetns of History, Religious Studies, and South Asia Studies- of which she is also Department Chair. Sreenivasan's research interests include early modern South Asia; gender and household in northern India; religion and caste in northern India; as well as colonialism and modernity. She is the author of The Many Lives of a Rajput Queen: Heroic Pasts in Indian History c. 1500-1900 (Permanent Black (New Delhi) and University of Washington Press, 2007.) which won the Ananda Kentish Coomaraswamy Prize in 2009.
