Fresh from digital humanities bootcamps this summer, three training grant recipients share their new-found DH knowledge. Penn graduate students Andrea Gazzoni and Joan Lubin explore what they've learned about professionalization in the digital humanities, digital pedagogy, networked learning, and post-colonial digital humanities, and how they plan to use those tools in and outside the classroom.
Andrea Gazzoni | "Digital Pedagogy/Critical Pedagogy"
Andrea Gazzoni will talk about how the digital in our teaching practice offers new opportunities for the development of a critical pedagogy relying on co-operation, self-reflection and de-centralization inside and outside the classroom. He will argue that while many tools are available for such a purpose nowadays, we can make them meaningful only by critically shaping our course settings and activities.
Joan Lubin | "Digital Humanities and Cultural Critique"
Joan Lubin will report back about the De/Post/Colonial DH seminar in which she participated at HILT, and share the website and "Invitation towards Social Justice in the Digital Humanities" discussion board that emerged from it.
Lunch will be served. Please register at least 24 hours in advance.
