Rupa Pillai is a senior lecturer in the Asian American Studies program at the University of Pennsylvania. A cultural anthropologist, she investigates the intersections of religion, race, and migration, focusing on Hinduism in the United States. Her current book project, The Other Hindus of New York City, explores how the growing Indo-Caribbean American community uses Hinduism to carve a space for themselves in New York City.
