Taryn Flaherty

Taryn Flaherty is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania in the Class of 2025. She is pursuing a major in History with minors in Sociology and Korean Studies. Taryn's project is a digital archive of Philadelphia Chinatown's legacy of intergenerational community organizing, conducting oral histories to document the people who live, work, and find a sense of belonging in Chinatown. Born and raised in Philly, Taryn attended school in Chinatown and seeks to highlight the agency of this beloved neighborhood in the face of predatory developments. Through this project, Taryn hopes to shed light on the history of Chinatown as told by the community, for the community.
