a talk with Orit Halpern, Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology at Concordia University in Montréal.
Professor Halpern's research “traces out the reformulation of observation and knowledge that occurred in a range of fields immediately after World War II,” and links design, architecture, and artistic practice with the life, human, and social sciences. She is the author of the recently published Beautiful Data: A History of Vision and Reason since 1945. Her talk is titled, "'The Smart Mandate': Ubiquitous Computing, Resilient Infrastructures, and Test-Bed Urbanism."
