Understanding Privacy and Security in a Digital World

December 8, 2016 - 12:00pm

Are you concerned about the privacy of your online communication? Do you worry about the security of your digital data? Join us on Thursday, December 8 in the Class of '55 room on the second floor of Van Pelt Library for a panel discussion and hands-on workshop on privacy and security in a digital world.

We will begin with brief presentations from University information security experts addressing data collection, information security, and privacy. The goal is to help participants understand what kind of information is collected about them by third parties, how it is collected and for what purposes.

After this panel, we want to open things up for a conversation about community concerns as well as hands ondemonstrations of tools and techniques for enhancing your digital privacy and security. Please feel free to bring your devices so you can follow along with demonstrations.

The Price Lab for Digital Humanities will provide a light lunch so please RSVP to Margie Guy (marguy@sas.upenn.edu) if you plan to attend so we can order enough food.

This event is brought to you by SAS Computing, Penn Libraries and the Price Lab.
