Pop Up Labs

Pop-Up Labs are funded by small grants of up to $1000 and support Penn scholars who may not be ready to develop a viable project proposal but would like to experiment with new tools and/or methods as possible means of approaching their research questions. If approved, Pop Up Lab funds could be used to invite guest speakers with relevant expertise, provide snacks for a series of meetings or workshops, and/or pay for a temporary software license to “try on” a particular tool or platform. Labs would be given prioritized access to a DH specialist who can provide methodological advice and serve as a bridge to relevant experts in the campus DH network. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and graduate students are encouraged to apply.
